10/18/2017 0 Comments The importance of different P.O.V.'sI know what a title hey! It's just something I learnt to 'save' my current story from going off the rails somehow. So, I discovered the importance of using different P.O.V's. Have you ever had a story in mind? Such a cool one but all the characters were just rioting like teens in an unsupervised class so it seems? I really wanted to tell this story but how could I put order in the chaos? I first tried the "3 Act principle" you know Intro, Incident, Struggle, Climax, Resolution but that didn't seem to cool down the riot between my characters as it now seemed they were 'fighting' over who would have the 'most important' role in the story and I was just not having it. They were 'ruining' my story, period! Since I read "Into the water" by Paula Hawkins and wasn't really satisfied with her take on the POV's as the book seemed rather 'chaotic', I thought it would be a 'challenge' to try this too lol. I would give all my characters the same 'importance' to tell them their side of the story but make sure they won't disrupt the flow somehow as one scene written for different perspectives can turn pretty nasty in the end. Yesterday, I exactly finished the 'first draft' Woohoo! As if you give all your characters a 'equal voice' and 'space' to tell their story and each session you only concentrate on ONE character then you can save your story and eventually stop the riot as you give all your attention to all your characters ONE at a time. In that way, you can also learn more about them and without creating chaos you discover their life, their dreams, their goals, their fears and so on that helps you build the story without much effort and plotting.
So to wrap up this ramble lol. If you have a class of 7 characters all wanting to tell their side of the story... Give them each ONE chapter in each act so you get a fully bodied and 'fleshed out' story once you've written down your first draft and then you can add all the details later. Have fun writing, Daz!

9/1/2017 0 Comments What about Fan fiction? So, I thought I'd write this Blog to talk about Fan fiction as I had friends asking me "HOW to write Fan fiction" and if it's somehow 'different' from novel writing. The 'story base' is the same though with ONLY one 'aspect' that you need to have ONE character that carries the 'fan fiction' genre. So if you write a "Michael Jackson Fan fiction" then he should obliviously play an important role in it with a nickname cause of the 'copyrighted' name. So, How do you even start a Fan fiction story then? Simply, like you write any story no matter what genre or length. Any story exactly starts with 2 characters you get to know. You choose their name and give them some background or a 'life' prior to the incident which is also called the 'Intro' of your story. It can be 'two lovers' or just two friends depending on the story you wanna tell. Then, the ball starts rolling with someone that brings 'conflict' between the two characters also referred as the 'Incident'. ONE scene changes everything in their 'structured' lives. Next, is just letting your imagination run wild and listen to the characters rioting over 'who can have her lol' or how they will cope now with what happened to them. That is the 'Struggle' which is the 'real body' of your story. As the story takes shape and every character has his say and deals with the situation in his own way, you will soon see who's gonna win or lose the game they play. That brings us to the 'Resolution' of the story! Which can be a 'break up' that is mended or a 'miracle of life' between the two characters! In either way, there is always a Victory or a defeat which makes or breaks the story into a 'Climax' or even an 'anti climax'. The hero of your story overcomes its burdens or is totally defeated somehow.
So, that is the 'core' of "Story writing "! Have fun! 8/5/2017 0 Comments The ultimate writing toolOkay, I think I have finally found the ULTIMATE WRITING TOOL and yes, it deserves to be in BOLD as it really changed the way I write these days and really has boosted my 'confidence' in keep on writing stories. So let me ask you this... Did you ever felt like this? I think it's better than the 'word' version of 'plotting' as you gain so much more 'insight' into your story as in how the characters are and where they live and what-where-how it all happens. Besides, this form of 'plotting' is not 'lost' as you can use the pictures in your novel and you can either choose to just use the pictures in your 'written' novel or just stick to the 'comic strip' style and transform your novel into a Comic strip. In either way, It has got me 'unstuck' in #Fragmented which I think is so awesome as it really 'frustrated' me.
So next time, you get stuck in a 'complex' novel structure or you have just too many 'ideas' for one novel... Try out the #Ultimatewritingtool simply called #ComicStrip ! Have fun drawing and get your #Xoomy today lol 5/18/2017 0 Comments Help, my characters ran off...You're in the middle of a draft of your novel and suddenly your characters go on 'mute'. Is it the feared
"writer's block" or is that just a 'myth' and more importantly how do you 'get them back' if they simply have 'trotted' off somewhere. All revealed in this blog of the week! 5/4/2017 0 Comments Choose your ProtagonistThis Blog is inspired by the quarrel I had with my characters this week LOL !
